Jonathan Friedrichs Wildlife

Hi! I've been photographing wildlife my whole life but now focus exclusively on filmmaking. I try to film wildlife as cinematically as I can, in their natural environments, while avoiding anything manmade in any of my shots. I was born & raised in Vancouver, surrounded by greenery, and I now live in Brooklyn, which has a lot more wild life than you might think.
Orangutans are my favourite animal-- I lived with them for two months in the jungles of Borneo which remains one of my best life experiences. But I'm smitten with almost all animal species, from bears to barnacles.
Some of my wildlife trips have involved camping for days or weeks at a time off-the-grid. Others have been a short drive from my front door. Either way, wildlife filming takes a combo of research, patience, luck and cinematographic vision.
My footage has appeared on the BBC and the popular Ze Frank youtube channel. My current go-to camera in the field is the Canon R5 with 100-500mm lens.
I sometimes film Homo sapiens as well.
