Jonathan Friedrichs Wildlife

I was born & raised in Vancouver and I now live in the wilds of New York. I've always been fascinated by animals, from bears to barnacles, but orangutans are by far my favourite creature. I lived with them for two months in the jungles of Borneo which remains one of the best experiences I've ever had.
Filming wildlife takes a combination of luck, patience, research & artistic vision. I try to compose my shots carefully & cinematically using only natural environments. You won't find cars, buildings, boats, concrete or anything manmade in any of my films. My go-to camera in the field is the Canon R5 with 100-500mm lens although it doesn't beat the Canon RF 600mm.
Some of my footage has appeared on the BBC and the popular Ze Frank youtube channel.
I hope you enjoy my wildlife films! Feel free to contact me for questions, collaborations, commissions or just to say hello.
(I sometimes film Homo sapiens, too).
